Although Fortune 100 companies have certainly embraced social media to communicate with their consumers, refresh their brands and reach new audiences, the CEO’s of those companies apparently don’t see much personal use for social media tools. A survey conducted by UBERCEO found that:
Frankly, I think this makes perfect sense. These CEOs have to RUN A COMPANY, and likely have too many things on their plate to post pics on their Facebook profiles or update their resumes on LinkedIn. They already have the real-life (not digital) connections they need in the business world and certainly don’t need to try to build the biggest buddy list. Via Tech Crunch:
Top execs of Fortune 100 companies in my view can do much more harm to themselves and the organizations they represent using social media the wrong way, and I haven’t seen that many CEOs of any size and type of company do it the right way. It’s what social media gurus and other experts are there for!
What do you think? Should CEO’s be personally embracing the methods of communication their companies are using, or just stick to making sure their businesses are making money?
